Idriss Dby (born 1952) is the president of Chad, for the Patriotic Salvation Movement.
Dby started out as a general in the civil war in Chad. In 2 December 1990, Dby's troops marched unopposed through the Chadic capital of NDjamena. After three months of provisional government, on 28 February 1991, a charter was approved for Chad with Dby as president. Dby was reelected in 1996 and 2001, but international observers noted irregularities in the election process.
