ireacht: The name of the cabinet or ministry in the Dil Constitution passed by the First Dil of the Irish Republic in January 1919. Consisted of a Priomh ire (or prime minister, also called 'President of Dil ireann') and ministers. The Promh ire was upgraded to President of the Republic (ie, full head of state) by a constitutional amendment proposed by Eamon de Valera and adopted by Dil ireann in August 1921.

The ireacht and the entire republican system of government was replaced by the Irish Free State in 1922.
